DIMENSIONS THERAPY CENTER RECEIVES SOUTH FLORIDA PARENTING MAGAZINE JUDGE’S CHOICE AWARD FOR “BEST SERVICES FOR SPECIAL NEEDS”
Nationally Recognized Autism Expert Expanding Services in Palm Beach County
BOCA RATON, FL (July 1, 2005) – Dimensions Therapy Center, which recently announced plans to expand services in Palm Beach County, has been awarded the Judge’s Choice Award for “Best Services for Special Needs.” This is part of the South Florida Parenting Magazine’s 2005 Kid’s Crown Awards.
“We are especially proud of our Judge’s Choice Award,” said Valerie Herskowitz, the Center’s founder and director. “The award reinforces the fact that we are providing a valuable service to our special needs clients. We are looking forward to offering our services to families in Palm Beach County.”
A veteran speech pathologist, Herskowitz’s interest in special needs goes beyond professional - her youngest son was diagnosed with autism in 1993 when he was two years old. She recently announced plans to offerThe Family Club in Palm Beach County. Developed at the Dimensions Therapy Center, The Family Club offers community activities for families with special needs members.
Children who have special needs are often unable to attend normal community activities, and Herskowitz encountered her own difficulty when taking her son places. Not only does this affect the child, but the entire family as well. In seeing this need, she got busy and developed activities for her and other families. The special activities originally started as backyard get-togethers at the Herskowitz home, but later developed into community-based outings such as bowling, the movies, the Dade County Metro Zoo and most recently, the Parrot Jungle. Costs for the special needs children and often for the entire family are always covered by Dimensions Therapy Center.
The first outing in Palm Beach County is scheduled for mid-summer 2005.
